What You Can Expect From NELL

We will:

  • Provide you with welcome documentation, an initial informal meeting with a NELL mentor and ongoing support by this mentor for as long as you feel necessary
  • Provide named NELL contacts for your CLP, Trade Union or Socialist Societies, where possible
  • Offer internal NELL expertise on Labour Party, Trade Union and Socialist Society rules, structures and processes to support you in your activism journey
  • Develop your political interests and skills by providing regular mentoring, coaching and training opportunities
  • Trust your discretion with whom you discuss NELL and its activities

What NELL Expects From You

You will:

  • Complete the NELL Activist Commitment Survey on joining, and update this regularly
  • Regularly attend NELL meetings and participate in debates and votes
  • Regularly attend Labour Party, Trade Union and Socialist Society meetings and participate in their democratic processes
  • Actively network with other members of NELL
  • Actively network within your Labour Party, Trade Union and Socialist Society Branches with a view to future recruitment of like-minded members to NELL
  • Actively campaign ‘on the ground’ for NELL sponsored candidates for internal elections or public office including participation in phone banking, street stalls, events and door-knocking, where possible and subject to individual circumstances
  • Actively promote NELL social media and other communications supporting NELL candidates for internal elections or public office
  • Use discretion when discussing NELL and its activities, to ensure NELL plans and strategies are not shared outside of the membership signed up to NELL aims, values and political priorities
